Frustrated Creamer winless since '10 Women's Open

KOHLER, Wis. – The last three U.S. Women’s Open champions were paired together in Thursday’s start.

So Yeon Ryu (2011), Paula Creamer (2010) and Eun-Hee Ji (2009) have more in common than the trophies they won in this event.

They’re each looking for their first victories since claiming their U.S. Women’s Open titles.

“It’s frustrating,” Creamer said after opening with a 1-over-par 73. “At the same time, it’s motivating.”

Ryu, the defending champion, opened with a 74 and Ji with a 76.

“I'm trying to learn how to channel the energy that I have from being frustrated into making it positive, and it's been hard,” Creamer said. “I mean it's been very difficult. I set such high expectations for myself, and to not have won since 2010 is kind of crazy to me, but it is reality, and I've been working very hard. I can't say that I am slacking off or anything like that. I'm working harder now and maybe even too hard, just putting pressure on myself. But it's going to happen. I'm not too scared about that.  It will come around.”
