Tommy Gainey’s big breaks keep coming.

With his one-shot victory Sunday at The McGladrey Classic, “Two Gloves” notched his first PGA Tour title and made a significant jump in the Official World Golf Ranking, from 183rd to 125th.

Gainey began the year at No. 96 in the rankings, but he’s struggled at times in 2012, missing 12 cuts in 31 events. Before his win at Sea Island, he hadn’t posted a top-10 finish since Colonial in May.

David Toms, who shot a final-round 63 to finish solo second, is now 36th in the rankings, after beginning the week at No. 40. U.S. Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III couldn’t convert a share of the 54-hole lead into victory, but he still moved up 13 spots in the rankings, from 148th to 135th.

In Australia, Bo Van Pelt nipped fellow American Jason Dufner by two shots to win the ISPS Handa Perth International. The victory didn’t correspond with a big jump in the rankings, however. He moved up only a single spot, to No. 23, in the OWGR.
