Germany to host 2015 Solheim Cup

The 2015 Solheim Cup will be played in Germany, the Ladies European Tour announced Monday.

The LET, intent on taking the biennial competition to new regions in Europe, has designated Golf Club St. Leon-Rot outside Heidelberg, Germany, as the next European host venue. The club was host to the Deutsche Bank SAP on the men’s European Tour. Tiger Woods won the event three times there.

“I can’t wait for Germany to host the 2015 Solheim Cup,” Germany’s Sandra Gal said. “It will be a fantastic experience for our golf in Germany.”

The 2013 Solheim Cup will be played at Colorado Golf Club in Parker, Colo. The 2011 Solheim Cup was staged at Killeen Castle outside Dublin, Ireland.
