LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Those looking for closure to the season this week at Disney may be disappointed.
GTC gives you Bob Estes as Exhibit A to this truth. The Tour journeyman is 134th in earnings and has struggled to rounds of 71-70-72 at Disney. Destitute, disillusioned, dejected, right? Not exactly.
“It’s almost like I don’t even care,” Estes said on Tuesday at Disney.
Estes’ indifference is the byproduct of the Tour’s membership rules that are riddled with loopholes and safety nets.
Estes played just 12 events in 2011 because of an ailing right wrist and estimates he will be able to play three to six tournaments next season on a medical exemption to make about $100,000 to equal the top 125 from this season and earn fully exempt status.
“If I go to Q-School I’m actually looking forward to it,” Estes said. “Playing final stage will be good preparation for next year.”
Talk about bubble busting.
