Glover ready to start season at Transitions


PALM HARBOR, Fla. ' After injuring his knee in a freak paddle-boarding accident prior to the season-opening Hyundai Tournament of Champions, Lucas Glover will finally make his 2012 debut this week at the Transitions Championship.

The knee is 100 percent, the former U.S. Open champion said. Im in good gym shape but need to make sure Im in good golf shape to be able to walk four days in a row. Thats the plan for this week and to evaluate things next week.

The exact injury was a sprained MCL and acutely inflamed plica tendon. Glover had planned to play at Riviera, Pebble Beach and Puerto Rico, but in each instance decided he couldnt go before withdrawing prior to the deadline.

He will be cautious this week, wanting to be fully healthy for the years first major.

I want to play next week [at Bay Hill], he explained, but feel I need the time and the week off to be prepared for Augusta.'
