When Lucas Glover signed his scorecard on Sunday at TPC Scottsdale he also likely signed off on his final chance to qualify for this month’s WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.
Although the deadline for the Match Play isn’t until next Monday, Glover, who dropped a spot to 65th on Monday and one spot out of the Match Play field, is not playing this week’s AT&T Nationa l Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which means there is virtually no chance he will crack the top 64 and earn an outright spot in the field at Dove Mountain.
Nor did Glover consider changing his schedule to chase a Match Play start.
“Lucas sets his schedule with the Masters on his mind,” Glover’s manager with Crown Sports Mac Barnhardt said. “He starts with Houston (Open) the week before and works his way back. If I was worried about World Ranking points I’d send him overseas, but that’s not what is important to him.”
