The European Tour announced Wednesday a new 10-year deal with Golf Channel to broadcast all European Tour events through the 2024 season.
The European Tour has had a relationship with Golf Channel since the network’s launch in January 1995. This year, the Scottish Open became the first regular European Tour event to be aired live on network television in America.
Said European Tour chief executive George O’Grady: “We are delighted to announce this 10-year extension to our agreement, which is further compelling evidence of the continued appeal of the European Tour, through our showcasing of the game and the immense talent being discovered in all countries where our tournaments take place.”
Since Golf Channel joined the NBC Sports Group in 2011, the European Tour has seen nearly a 60 percent increase in viewership. This season, it is on pace to become the European Tour’s most-watched year ever in the U.S.
“The European Tour’s regular morning timeslot has kicked off Golf Channel’s tournament coverage days since the network’s launch,” said Golf Channel president Mike McCarley, “and this extension further solidifies our strong partnership, which now will span three decades with this new agreement.”
