MARANA, Ariz. – As Golf Channel and NBC Sports begin a new alliance this week at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, Golf Channel will have a beefed-up social media approach designed to increase fan awareness about the new relationship and improve the overall viewer experience of the event.
Beginning with Wednesday’s first round, and continuing through the championship match on Sunday, Golf Channel will have an embedded social media blogger on site at Dove Mountain providing behind-the-scenes photos of on-air personalities and the inner-workings of the production facilities.
Viewers are urged to submit questions to the on-air reporters and analysts and they’ll share insights, picks and lighthearted stories about the week. Posts from Golf Channel can be made to both Golf Channel’s Twitter page (@GolfChannel) and Facebook page (Facebook.com/GolfChannel). Questions from viewers can be submitted through both places as well.
In addition, GolfChannel.com’s Golf Guy will provide live tweets throughout television coverage for all five days. Our resident golf bum will begin Wednesday at noon (ET) and continue with coverage until the Golf Channel telecast ends around 6 p.m. ET. Thursday-Sunday the Golf Guy will continue with tweets from 2-6 p.m. ET. He can be followed @GCGolfGuyLive or on GolfChannel.com’s scoring page.
