PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Adam Scott says returning to The Players Championship invigorates him.
It took nine holes Thursday, though, to translate the good vibes into his game.
Scott shot 39 on the front and 31 on the back to get himself in good position early. He won the 2004 title here.
'I love coming back here,' Scott said. 'It fires me up, and I want to get in the mix again.'
Scott said the key to his first-round turnaround was giving in to his swing flaw, instead of fighting it.
'I was aiming down the middle on the front nine and hooking the ball every time,' Scott said. 'I decided to stop fighting it on the back nine. I started aiming right and just let it come left.'
Scott made eagle at the 16th and birdie at the 17th. His sixth and last PGA Tour title came two years ago at the Byron Nelson.
