Grand exit for Bermuda Premier Ewart Brown

SOUTHHAMPTON, Bermuda – This week’s PGA Grand Slam of Golf may not be the last played on this sliver of an island. Officials have not announced where the 2011 event will be played but sources suggest it will remain in Bermuda, but it will be the last for Premier Ewart Brown.

Brown, an influential force in bringing the Silly Season event to Bermuda and an avid golfer, is stepping down as the country’s leader on Oct. 31, but he made the most of his swan song Grand Slam during a brief speech at the champion’s celebration on Tuesday.

“It has been a highlight of my career to bring this event to Bermuda,” he told the  crowd.
