Greens gain is Goosens loss

Despite hitting a pair of second shots into the scoring trailer on Glen Abbey’s 18th hole, Nathan Green won the weather-mauled RBC Canadian Open over Retief Goosen. Or, as Golfworld magazine recently penned, the man who was struck by lightning once and the U.S. Open twice.

But the steady-handed South African who rolled his way to two Open titles looked nothing like the quick-handed version who missed a pair of makeable putts in the playoff Monday afternoon. Despite a steady year, Goosen hasn’t been the same player since signing for a final-round 81 at Pinehurst during the 2005 U.S. Open.
