Guan Tianlang has landed another spot start on the PGA Tour.
The 14-year-old from China, who made the cut in both the Masters and the Zurich Classic, has accepted a sponsor exemption into the Byron Nelson Championship, scheduled for May 16-19 in Dallas.
“What Guan has been able to accomplish at such a young age is very impressive,” tournament chairman Mike McKinley said in a statement. “We have always had a tradition of identifying young talent and giving them an opportunity to compete at the Nelson, and we look forward to continuing that with Guan.”
It’ll likely be Guan’s final start before his U.S. Open sectional qualifier at Lakewood Country Club in Dallas on June 3.
Guan, who won the Asia-Pacific Amateur last fall, became the youngest player to make the cut in a major at the Masters. He eventually tied for 58th.
Two weeks later, Guan shot a second-round 69 to make the cut on the number in New Orleans. He finished last among the 71 players who made the cut.
