Gulbis goes low Sunday; not low enough

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Natalie Gulbis posted the low round of the championship Sunday at the Kraft Nabisco.

It was her lowest score in any major championship.

With a 7-under-par 65, Gulbis was tied for eighth when she signed her scorecard and looking to record her first top-10 LPGA finish in more than three years.

“I made nine birdies,” Gulbis, 29, said. “It feels even better on a major championship course.”

It was Gulbis' sixth top 10 in a major, her first since the '08 Women’s British Open. Gulbis has been plagued by back issues in her career. She had laser surgery a little more than two years ago to correct a problem. Her lone LPGA title came at the 2007 Evian Masters.
