Natalie Gulbis withdrew from the HSBC Women’s Champions event in Singapore before Friday’s second round, but, contrary to reports, her management says she hasn’t been diagnosed with malaria.

“She’s not feeling well,” said David Livingston, Gulbis’ agent at IMG. “She has withdrawn; she does have flu-like symptoms, but, to be clear, she has not been hospitalized and there is no diagnosis of malaria.”

Livingston said Gulbis did require medical treatment.

“She’s resting comfortably, and, hopefully she’ll have a speedy recovery,” Livingston said.

Gulbis is being cared for by IMG staff, which is running operations of the HSBC Women’s Champions.

Hall of Famer Se Ri Pak withdrew from the HSBC Women’s Champions earlier in the week, also with flu-like symptoms. According to the LPGA, reports that she contracted malaria are not true.
