LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The last three weeks Heath Slocum has been to Malaysia, China and now central Florida. Asked how he was feeling on Tuesday his response was predictable.
“What’s today?” he smiled. “Tuesday . . . yeah, better than I thought.”
Slocum – who arrived at home in Atlanta at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, some 18 hours after leaving China on Sunday – said he aided his readjustment to East Coast time by waking up early (3:30 a.m.) Sunday to watch the LSU-Alabama game and went to bed late (2 a.m.) after the final round at the WGC-HSBC Champions.
Slocum’s position on the money list, No. 30, was not the primary reason for his whirlwind adventure to Walt Disney World Resort, however. “I’d be playing here regardless. My family loves it here,” said Slocum, who can secure a Masters invitation if he finishes inside the top 30 earnings.
And as an added bonus, his travels to the Asia Pacific Golf Classic in Malaysia and the HSBC earned him enough frequent flyer miles to fly the family to Disney for free. So much for the rigors of travel.
