Highlights from Tiger Woods statement

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – It’s over and here are some highlights, in case you are living in a cave and couldn’t watch:

- Tiger Woods was wearing gray slacks, a light blue button-up shirt and a navy blue blazer.

- His mother Tida was front and center along with others, including college teammate and longtime friend Notah Begay.

- He said: “I know people want to find out how I can be so selfish and foolish. People want to know how I could do these things to my wife Elin and to my children. My real apology will not come in the form of words, it will come in the form of behavior.”

- Woods admitted that, as reported, he has been in a rehabilitation facility and that he will re-enter the place again tomorrow morning.

- He plans to return to golf but does not know when, saying: “I plan to return to golf one day. I don’t rule out that it will be this year. When I return I need to make my behavior more respectful of the game.”

- He made a plea for everyone to leave his family alone: “I still believe it is right to shield my family from the public spotlight. Please leave my wife and kids alone. I recognize I brought this upon myself.”

- Woods’ final thought: “Finally, there are many people in this room and many people at home who believe in me. Today I want to ask for your help. I ask you to find in your heart to one day believe in me again. Thank you.”
