NORTON, Mass. – For all those who dismiss the importance of the FedEx Cup, GTC gives you Robert Garrigus, the Tour’s affable bomber who carded rounds of 72-69-73-70 this week to play his way out of the BMW Championship.
“It comes down to hitting it awful,” said Garrigus, who began the week 67th in FedEx Cup points but is projected to slip to 77th, seven spots out of the BMW. “I think I needed to finish top 50, but I wanted to win the tournament. As bad as I hit it I’m surprised I didn’t miss the cut.”
It may not have been “major” emotion, but to the players the playoffs matter.
