CARMEL, Ind. – From unknown rookie to the elite ranks.
That’s the John Huh story after he earned a spot in the season-ending Tour Championship by staying among the top 30 in FedEx Cup points Sunday at the BMW Championship. He will be the only rookie teeing it up at East Lake in Atlanta Sept. 20-23.
Huh was 26th in FedEx Cup points when he signed his scorecard Sunday with no chance that anyone could bump him out of the top 30.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling right now,” said Huh, 22. “It was a lot of pressure for me. I was on the bubble, at 26, 27, 29. I think I handled it pretty good.”
Prior to making it to Q-School last winter, Huh had never played in a PGA Tour event. He won the Mayakoba Golf Classic in February. Now, he has earned himself berths in next year’s Masters, U.S. Open, British Open, The Players Championship, the WGC-Cadillac Championship, the Hyundai Tournament of Champions and the WGC-HSBC Champions by virtue of his stellar rookie season.
