Iconic announcer Robson confirms he won't retire

GULLANE, Scotland – There had been word circulating at Muirfield this week that this would be iconic announcer Ivor Robson’s final Open Championship.

Sunday afternoon, just after he’d finished his duties for the week sending the final game of Lee Westwood and Hunter Mahan off with his signature singsong cadence, GolfChannel.com asked Robson if he planned to retire?

“Do you know something I don’t?” Robson smiled. “No, I will be back.”

The 142nd Open was Robson’s 39th and when he’d completed his week he received a standing ovation from the fans huddled in around the first tee.
