The innocence of youth

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Oh, the innocence of youth.

Young hotshot Rory McIlroy had never seen the beauty of Pebble Beach Golf Links in person until he stepped on site earlier this week. Like most his age, he's only seen the place via video games but said it was better in person.

It seems the 21-year-old from Northern Ireland must not be worried about the golf gods. He said Wednesday that the spectacular little 109-yard, par-3 seventh hole was 'just like a chip almost. I couldn't believe how short it was.'

Oh Rory. With a green that small and the potential for wind blowing off the water, we're pretty certain that if anyone in the field were offered a free pass if guaranteed to play the hole in level par for four days they'd take it.

Kids these days.
