DUBLIN, Ohio – Interesting scene at the par-5 fifth hole on Thursday after Phil Mickelson's tee shot clipped a tree, leaving him with a shot he had to hit from a downhill lie in the rough through two trees.

Mickelson laid up deftly and made a 6-footer for birdie to move to 3 under, but not before a lengthy conversation with his caddie Jim 'Bones' Mackay.

All of which makes one wonder how a caddie knows when his man has heard enough.

'When I say, 'I've got this,' he knows that's it,' Jason Day said Wednesday about his caddie.
