Johnson enjoying golfing with brother

Winning isn’t everything.

Sometimes making the cut with your amateur brother in tow as your pro-am partner is more than rewarding enough.

Dustin Johnson rallied to make the cut in individual stroke play Saturday at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland. He was so excited about getting to Sunday that he pledged to return to the event next year for a third consecutive time. He’s loving his performance in great measure because his brother, Austin, is his amateur partner in an event that is Europe’s version of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-am. Dustin and Austin combined for a better-ball 59 Saturday and are among 20 pro-am teams that earned the right to play in the final round.

“We played here last year and enjoyed it, which is why we came again this time,” Dustin told European media. “I like this tournament a lot, and it’s a great week. I will definitely be coming back again next year, hopefully to play with Austin again. To go out and play in a tournament like this alongside my brother is good fun.”

Austin, Dustin’s younger brother, played basketball at Charleston Southern.

“He hits it far, just like me,” Dustin once said of his brother. “But he three-putts a lot.”
