NEWPORT, Wales – Dustin Johnson didn’t get to see if he could have beaten Martin Kaymer in that PGA Championship playoff, but he destroyed him in their Ryder Cup singles showdown Monday at Celtic Manor.
Johnson routed Kaymer 6-and-4.
With four consecutive birdies to close out the round, Johnson was a man on fire. After a rough start to his first Ryder Cup with three losses, Johnson recorded his first victory. Johnson would have gotten into that PGA Championship playoff with Kaymer and Bubba Watson at Whistling Straits in August if not for the ruling that he grounded his club in a bunker at the 72nd hole.
