LYTHAM ST. ANNES, England – Robert Karlsson withdrew from the Open Championship Wednesday, saying that he was not comfortable enough with his game to compete at Royal Lytham & St. Annes.
“Just pulled out of the British Open,” Karlsson wrote on his Twitter account. “Have got into some bad habits in my game and routine that I need to address. Taking a few weeks off.”
The withdrawal does not get anyone else into the field because it was already overbooked with 157 players. Now it’s down to the normal 156 players.
Ben Crane was the first alternate but has been withdrawn from the list. Next in line, should anyone else WD, is Michael Thompson and Matteo Manassero is second.
