Martin Kaymer made it official today. He won’t be taking up PGA Tour membership next year but will join Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy in making the European Tour his lone tour.
“Schedule-wise, it doesn’t really fit to play both,” Kaymer’s quoted saying on the European Tour’s website after a practice round Tuesday at the Dubai World Championship. “I consider the European Tour as my home.”
But you can count South Africans Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel as new members of the PGA Tour in 2011, according to PGATour.com. Oosthuizen earned a five-year PGA Tour exemption winning the British Open. Schwartzel became eligible earning enough money as a non-member to finish among the top 125 in money on the PGA Tour this year.
