Kim must fend off major foes

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Major championship pedigree stands out on the leaderboard at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Six players tied for seventh or better going into Saturday’s start of the third round have won majors: Lorena Ochoa, Cristie Kerr, Karen Stupples, Karrie Webb, Yani Tseng and Suzann Pettersen.

Second-round leader Song Hee Kim isn’t among the major championship winners. In fact, she’s the highest ranked player in the world who hasn’t won an LPGA event. When she goes off with Cristie Kerr today (4:35 p.m. ET), it will mark the first time she’ll be in the final pairing of a major.

Kim, 21, was asked if that makes her nervous. “Nope,” she answered. She was also asked if she’s ready to win. “I’ve always been ready to win,” she said.
