Ko, 16, signs with IMG Golf for management

Lydia Ko has signed with IMG Golf for management and marketing representation, it was announced Thursday.

Ko, 16, who turned professional in October, is a two-time LPGA winner. She also won last week’s Swinging Skirts World Ladies Masters. She is No. 4 in the Rolex rankings.

Ko was the top-ranked female amateur in the world for more than two years prior to turning pro. She won the CN Canadian Women’s Open in back-to-back years; in 2012, she became the youngest winner in LPGA history at 15 years, 4 months and 2 days.

“I am excited to work with my new team at IMG as I embark on my professional career,” she said in a release. “My family and I spoke with many candidates, and IMG emerged as the clear choice to represent me, in large part because of their global reach. I am comfortable knowing that IMG will commit the appropriate resources to help my career excel while I focus on golf.”

The other women’s golfers represented by IMG Golf include Paula Creamer, Jessica Korda, Beatriz Recari, Michelle Wie and Jaye Marie Green, the recent Q-School medalist.
