Callaway Golf made it official Monday, announcing the signing of 16-year-old Lydia Ko, who has risen to No. 4 in the Rolex Women’s World Rankings.
Details on exactly what she will have in her bag have yet to be released. The announcement has been expected since Ko was spotted with a Callaway bag with her name stitched on it last month in her New Zealand homeland.
Ko, who has won four professional titles, including two LPGA events, will make her LPGA rookie debut next week at the Pure Silk Bahamas Classic, the tour’s season opener.
On Callaway Golf’s web site, Ko said that she had a Callaway driver and Odyssey putter in her bag when she won in Taiwan at the end of last year.
“We started a good pathway, and I worked my way up with woods and irons and wedges,” Ko said in a Callaway Golf video.
