SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Matt Kuchar continued his hot play with a quick start Thursday at the PGA Championship.
Kuchar, who has eight top-10 finishes this season, holed a 52-degree wedge from 136 yards for eagle at his fourth hole. He was tied for the lead at 4-under through 14 holes when play was suspended with darkness falling.
There’s something about Whistling Straits that inspires Kuchar. He said paging through golf books with photos of golf holes, he likes to guess where a hole is before looking at the caption. He said he always gets fooled looking at photos of Whistling Straits, thinking it’s in Scotland or Ireland.
“It would always throw me seeing it’s in Kohler, Wis.,” Kuchar said. “I really enjoy this course. It is fun to play. I was having fun out there.”
