Kuchar reaches career high in world ranking

Matt Kuchar joined Tiger Woods as the only multiple winner on the 2013 PGA Tour.

He’s also drawing closer to Woods in the Official World Golf Ranking.

With his victory Sunday at the Memorial, Kuchar moved from ninth to a career-best fourth in the latest rankings. His previous best was No. 5, after his victory at last year’s Players.

Another player who made a big move Sunday was Kyle Stanley, who rose from 90th to 59th. The top 60 in the world after this week’s tournaments who are not already exempt into the U.S. Open will earn an 11th-hour berth. Stanley is also trying his luck in Monday’s 36-hole sectional qualifier in Columbus.

Mikko Ilonen, who ended a six-year drought by winning the European Tour’s Nordea Masters, jumped from 114th to 69th in the rankings.

The top 10 in the world: Woods, Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, Kuchar, Justin Rose, Brandt Snedeker, Luke Donald, Graeme McDowell, Louis Oosthuizen and Phil Mickelson
