Lake Nona wins Tavistock Cup

Lake Nona has won the ninth Tavistock Cup matches at their course in Orlando. The six-man team representing the club was 41-under par in the two-day affair, beating nearby Isleworth by two shots.

Queenwood, based in England, finished at 32 under, while Bahamas-based Albany was last at 26 under.

With the win, Lake Nona continued its streak of victories to four consecutive years.

In the second day of competition, the 24 players in the event went out in six foursomes for a round of stroke play. The scores for the six representatives from each team were added to the total from the best-ball scores on Day 1 to determine the winner.

Isleworth led at 26 under after the first day of play, with Lake Nona two behind, Albany trailing by three and Queenwood at 17 under.

Concurrently, the individual scores for the players identified the winner of the Payne Stewart Salver Award. Five players shot 5-under 67 to tie for the award, including Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Robert Allenby, Ross Fisher and Thomas Bjorn. Each club had a representative in the lead.

Tiger Woods shot even-par 72 on the final day, finishing 23rd of the two-dozen players.
