The decision to declare scores and void in Friday’s scrapped start to the second round of the Ricoh Women’s British Open because of severe weather wasn’t unanimously accepted among players.
American Brittany Lang didn’t like it after starting 1 under through two holes. She shot 82 in the first round and was fighting to get under the cut line.
“I never understood the re-start,” Lang told ESPN. “If you go out there and play, you play, you keep playing. I don’t think you should ever re-start. If they make the decision to put you out there, that should count. You are out there playing, you’re working hard, that should be your score. There shouldn’t be a re-start, and I don’t agree with that at all.”
In the re-started second round Saturday, Lang shot 79.
