Leishman latest Tour player on baby watch

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Another week, another PGA Tour player on baby watch.

This time it’s Marc Leishman, whose wife, Audrey, is expecting the couple’s second child next Tuesday – two days after the final round of the PGA Championship.

And much like Hunter Mahan two weeks ago, the Aussie says he’ll pull out of the year’s final major, if needed, in order to be by his wife’s side in Virginia Beach.

“It’s something you don’t want to miss,” he said Wednesday at Oak Hill. “It’s not every day that your wife has a baby, and she definitely needs someone to be with her while it’s all happening. I definitely want to be there.”

Leishman, whose first son, Harvey, is now 19 months old, said “everyone is on call” this week if his wife goes into labor early.

“I’m guessing nothing will happen,” he said. “Harvey was late; hopefully this little fella is late or born on time. I’ll prepare as well as I can and play some good golf. I’m definitely not taking it easy or anything like that. I’m here to do a job. If I’m doing my job and have to leave, so be it.”
