Lewis heating up at Oakmont

OAKMONT, Pa. – Stacy Lewis got herself in the weekend hunt at the U.S. Women’s Open with a brilliant shot Friday in her morning round.

Lewis holed a 6-iron from 160 yards for eagle at the fourth hole on the way to a 1-under-par 70, the only sub-par round posted before rain suspended play in the afternoon.

Two years ago, three weeks after turning pro, Lewis took the lead into the final round of the U.S. Women’s Open at Interlachen before fading. At 3-over 145 at Oakmont, she’s two shots behind Cristie Kerr and Brittany Lang, the leaders in the clubhouse when rain suspended play.
