Lincicome, Pressel enjoying each other's company

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Brittany Lincicome likes to chat around the golf course, and that made her pairing with Morgan Pressel appealing Friday at the Wegmans LPGA Championship.

How comfortable is Lincicome around Pressel?

Lincicome joked after the round that Pressel’s wrist injury might have been caused by Pressel’s jewelry.

“I think it’s the big ring on her finger,” Lincicome cracked.

Lincicome said during Thursday’s long rain delay, she asked Pressel if she could wear her wedding ring. Pressel handed it to her. Pressel was married in January.

“I looked down at the table at one point, and I’m like, `Where’s my ring? Oh yeah, Brittany has it,’” Pressel said.

When they finished their round early Friday afternoon, Pressel led the tournament with a 4-under-par 68. Lincicome was one shot back.

The pairing was good for both of them. Though Lincicome has locked up a U.S. Solheim Cup spot, she has struggled this season. She is coming off back-to-back missed cuts with five missed cuts in her last eight starts.

Pressel has one top-10 finish in 10 starts.

“When we got into the scoring tent, I said, `That's a little better for the two of us, you know what I mean?’” Pressel said. “We certainly thrived off each other out there. She was making birdies, and I was making birdies on a course where it didn't look like many people were.”
