Louis the Great

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – In three tries Louis Oosthuizen has had little success at the Open Championship, having gone 0-for-3 in cuts made and just a single round in the 60s in six attempts.

On Thursday at St. Andrews all that changed for the better when the South African birdied the turn and weathered freshening winds coming in to post a 7-under 65 and move into second place by himself.

“I love it here. This is holy ground we’re walking on,” said Oosthuizen, whose familiarity with the Old Course stretches back to 2004 when he also carded a 65 during the Dunhill Links Championship.
