David Toms will replace Open Championship winner Louis Oosthuizen at next week’s PGA Grand Slam of Golf . Oosthuizen injured his left ankle recently and was also forced to withdraw from last week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Phil Mickelson also withdrew from the event, which features the year’s four major champions, and was replaced by Ernie Els.
Alternates are picked from a points list based on performance at that year’s major championships and must be former major winners. Toms won the 2001 PGA Championship and finished in the top 33 at three of this year’s four Grand Slam events.
The Grand Slam of Golf will be played next Tuesday and Wednesday at Port Royal Golf Club in Bermuda.
