The LPGA officially announced Friday that it’s heading back to Michigan with a new event.
The Meijer LPGA Classic will make its debut Aug. 7-10 at Blythefield Country Club in Grand Rapids, Mich. The 72-hole event will feature a full field of 144 players and a purse of $1.5 million.
The event will mark the LPGA’s first tournament in Michigan since 2000, when the Oldsmobile Classic was played in East Lansing.
Meijer is a family-owned retailer based in Grand Rapids with 204 supercenters and grocery stores in five states.
