LPGA to announce interim commissioner

The LPGA will announce changes to its leadership Monday at 1 p.m. ET. Golf Channel will broadcast the press conference live from LPGA headquarters in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Christina Kim and Marsha Evans, members of the LPGA Board of Directors, Board of Directors chair Dawn Hudson, and Annika Sorenstam (via phone) are scheduled to take part in the announcement.

The tour is expected to announce an interim commissioner. GolfChannel.com senior writer Randall Mell reported Sunday that the Board of Directors was seeking someone to run the tour while the board launched a more thorough search for a successor to Carolyn Bivens.

Bivens will be stepping down after serving as LPGA commissioner for four years. The tour’s change in leadership comes in the wake of a meeting in which 15 high-profile players met and sent a letter to the LPGA asking for Bivens’ resignation.

Golf Channel and GolfChannel.com will have full coverage of and reaction to the announcement. Tune in to “Golf Central” at 6 p.m. ET.
