PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – The LPGA launched its Wounded Warrior Project Weekends in a big way at the season-opening Pure Silk Bahamas Classic.

As part of the Race to the CME Globe, the LPGA is donating $1,000 for every eagle made on Saturdays and Sundays of tour events.

The program was launched Saturday with LPGA pros making 12 eagles to raise $12,000. They included holes-in-one by Karine Icher and Erica Popson, Stacy Lewis’ hole out from 94 yards with a wedge at the 13th and Paula Creamer’s hole out with a sand wedge from 82 yards at the 11th hole and Creamer’s and Jessica Korda’s closing eagles at the 18th hole.

“This golf course today was set up for eagles,” Lewis said after Saturday’s round. “A lot of the par 5s on the front you could reach, and then the tee was up on 6, so it really set up to make some eagles. So, it made it exciting.”

The project’s back in play again Sunday in the closing round.
