LPGA's top players building momentum heading into Singapore

RSS

The LPGA’s leading money winner last year, the Rolex World No. 1 and the reigning LPGA player of the year all head to this week’s HSBC Women’s Champions in Singapore on a possible collision course with strong momentum in their favor.

Park, the 2012 leading money winner, won the Honda LPGA Thailand on Sunday in her first start of the 2013 season.

Tseng, the Rolex No. 1, closed in Thailand with a tournament record tying 9-under-par 63 to finish tied for third.

Lewis, the 2012 LPGA player of the year, who led through the first two rounds in Thailand, also tied for third.

Rolex world No. 2 Na Yeon Choi also showed good form in her 2013 LPGA debut, finishing seventh in Thailand.

Tseng, trying to win the LPGA Honda Thailand for a third consecutive year, opened sluggishly there with a 75 before finishing strong.

“Hopefully, next week, I can start a little earlier and still finish strong,” Tseng told reporters after Sunday’s finish. “I feel like this is more like me. When I play my best, I always finish strong on the weekend, but last year at the end, on the weekend, I’m always struggling. But this is what I like to feel – to play aggressive and have fun and relax. Because today I go out there and I try to make birdie every hole.”

The HSBC Champions will feature the top 10 players in the Rolex world rankings.
