NORTON, Mass. – On Tuesday when Geoff Ogilvy saw the draw for this week’s Deutsche Bank Championship he knew things were not looking good.
Hurricane Earl was closing in on the Northeast, scheduled to hit the Boston area sometime late Friday or early Saturday.
“I thought late-early (a late tee time Friday and early time on Saturday) would be bad and you look at the draw and you’re late-early,” Ogilvy said. “It had the potential to be the most lopsided draw in history.”
As it turns out, Earl turned east and TPC Boston was sparred all but a few showers and light wind. So was Ogilvy, who finished with a 7-under 64 and is just one shot off the lead.
“It was way better than I expected it to be,” he smiled, although we’re not sure if he meant his round or the weather.
