Masters champ in position at Honda

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Charl Schwartzel looks like he’s going to be ready to defend his Masters title next month.

With a 3-under-par 67 Saturday at the Honda Classic, the South African was four shots off the lead and tied for sixth when he signed his scorecard. He began the third round with four birdies over the first six holes but didn’t make another until the 18th.

Schwartzel is in the hunt despite three double bogeys this week. He made his third at the 11th Saturday after rinsing his approach shot.

“Today was definitely, by far, the hardest day we have had out of the three days,” Schwartzel said. “I got off to a flying start, hit the ball beautifully, made some good putts. Just unfortunate, a bit of a wait we had on 11. I just made a poor shot that ended up costing me a double bogey. Fortunately, I got off to a good start, so still in the mix.”
