McDowell earns trip to Augusta

Graeme McDowell, the last man into the Chevron World Challenge field when the man everybody was watching pulled out with injuries, finished alone in second place at Sherwood Country Club, earned 28 world ranking points and moved to 38th in the world and into the field for next year’s Masters.

In a fortunate twist, McDowell’s move into the top 50 (he was 55th) did not cost anyone a spot at Augusta National. Dustin Johnson was bumped from 48th to 51st, but he’d already secured his trip down Magnolia Lane via his trip to the Tour Championship.

The only question for McDowell now is where should he send Woods’ “thank you” gift?
