McIlroy will be breathing down Tigers neck with a win

“I think he is going to come back and do well . . . so bring it, bring it!”

Those were the words of Rory McIlroy this winter when a TV reporter asked him about Tiger Woods’ improving game after Woods finished second at the Chevron World Challenge.

McIlroy’s the one who’s bringing it early at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

With his 7-under-par 65 Thursday, McIlroy shot to the top of the leaderboard, finishing up as Woods was starting his round.

Notably, world No. 7 McIlroy can’t climb over No. 3 Woods in the world rankings with a win this week, but Woods will feel him breathing down his neck. McIlroy can climb to No. 4 by winning.
