McIlroy going low Saturday at the WGC

DORAL, Fla. – With no wind at Doral, the world-class field is turning the WGC-Cadillac Championship into the Doral Shootout.

World No. 1 Rory McIlroy shot 6-under 30 on the front nine and made par on both the easy par 5s. But he quickly made noise a hole later when he made eagle on the par-5 10thhole from 17 feet. His 10-under total was good enough to move him into a tie for third place, only two shots behind leader Bubba Watson, who hadn’t yet teed off.

Lee Westwood shot an opening-round 76 and seemed to be uninterested playing a course he’s never liked. In the third round Westwood is 7 under through 14 holes and made birdie on seven of the previous eight holes.

South African Branden Grace has shot the lowest round of the day so far with a 64. Tiger Woods birdied his first three holes and is four shots behind Watson.
