Mickelson cutting it close with travel plans

RSS

ARDMORE, Pa. – Phil Mickelson might be heading straight from the airport to Merion Golf Club on Thursday morning.

It’s been a hectic few days for Mickelson, who arrived in Philadelphia on Sunday night following a T-2 at the Fedex St. Jude Classic. After waiting out the weather delay Monday at Merion, Lefty decided to fly home to San Diego a day earlier than planned to practice at home and attend his daughter’s eighth-grade graduation.

GolfChannel.com has confirmed that Mickelson’s flight Wednesday will depart from Carlsbad, Calif., at 8:15 p.m. PT and is expected to land in Philadelphia at about 4:30 a.m. ET.

Why is that significant? The five-time U.S. Open runner-up is scheduled to tee off at 7:11 a.m. ET Thursday, alongside Keegan Bradley and Steve Stricker.
