NORTON, Mass. – Tiger Woods wasn’t the only star having a good day at TPC Boston on Saturday.
Phil Mickelson matched Woods’ 65 on Day 2 and moved into the top 5 at 8 under, a round he confirmed was his best in some time.
“I drove the ball very well and drove it well yesterday. Today a couple long ones went in (27 feet at No. 15 and 25 feet at the 16th),” Mickelson said. “Those were a bonus.”
After missing the cut at last week’s Barclays, Mickelson went home to southern California to work with Butch Harmon and spend time at the Callaway testing facility “dialing in” a new driver. And on Friday night he spent time entertaining Deutsche Bank executives and clients, a make good for pulling out of Thursday’s pro-am.
All in all not a bad week and he still has 36 holes to play.
