Mickelson goes to court to stop 'vicious' rumors

Phil Mickelson has sued a Canadian Internet service provider (ISP), seeking the identity of a customer who has posted "vicious" rumors about him.
Mickelson sued ISP Videotron S.E.N.C. in Quebec Superior Court, aiming to learn the name of a person or persons posting on Yahoo! under several accounts, according to the website Courthouse News Service. Mickelson learned the IP address related to these usernames - effectively, the Internet code for the geography of a user - through a subpoena of Yahoo! in San Diego Superior Court.
"The postings suggest that plaintiff has an illegitimate child, that his wife has affairs and other similar vexatious statements that are absolutely untrue and, simply put, vicious," according to the complaint.
