Mickelson makes his move

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It was Quail Hollow’s 15th hole where Phil Mickelson started to run out of gas on Thursday. On Friday it’s where he dramatically closed the gap on frontrunner Bo Van Pelt.

Lefty – who ranks ninth on Tour in eagles made per hole – eagled the winding par 5, roping his second shot from 219 yards to 6 ½ feet and rolling in the eagle putt to move to 5 under par.

At this rate IV bags and medical centers may be Lefty’s new pre-tournament routine.
